The deaths are not covert blood purges.
They are however evidence that there is likely a new deadlier SARS II variant, since party members are likelier to be vaccinated and have access to better medical care.
Analysis: What happens in Russia after Russia loses its war in Ukraine?
At the start of this war I argued that Russia ought not be dismembered; soon it became clear that Russia was perpetrating systematic war crimes in Ukraine, at which point the government of criminals must be called to account in war crimes tribunals. However, that does not necessarily mean the Russian federation should be disaggregated into its federal constituents. I felt, at first, that would be too extreme, but as the war grinds on it becomes likelier and frankly speaking better justified. An independent Yakutia, Mari Republic, the expansion of Finland and Estonia eastward as well as an independent Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingushtia inter alia are likely outcomes of this war. The consequence of that is likely to be a Turkic-Chinese rivalry in Central Asia extending all the way to Xinjiang. Turkey and China both have a real interest to see the Russian federation’s military degraded or even to see the Russian Fedration disaggregated into its constituent republics, that would in turn lead to their rivalry. This is to be planned for and accepted as inevitable and generally speaking beneficial. Perhaps in the aftermath of Russia’s final collapse China and Turkey will be able to relate in a friendly manner, but we can expect a security rivalry to be likelier. Nonetheless this should be accepted because Turkey supported Ukraine and tried to find a peaceful solution. China too sought a peaceful outcome, and when Russia refused that did not provide military support or even supplies to Russia. It is open to determine how much Chinese expansion into the ex Russian Federation and Central Asia should be tolerated or encouraged. C’est la guerre.
