Good news for Secretary of State Blinken
1. This is what the USA and he are both understandably upset about.
2. If this were war-winning technology I would be screaming. It isn't. Our over-match is that powerful.
China recognizes the USA's legitimate interest, and does in fact have the right to development.
I can't get you both what you want here, but I can get you both something acceptable to each of you.
1. Complete Chinese cooperation on Ukraine.
2. No Chinese interference in the Mid East Security Problems. China's been doing everything possible to get up to speed on the Mid East but, friendly reminder. When the Mullahs took Teheran they killed all the Chinese communists, not only the Iranian Maoists. They also tried to blame the USA for that. This means China lacks some expertise and also has reasons to give the USA the opportunity to enable China's Mid East peace plan to actually work. This would be a massive break through for Chinese and Israeli diplomacy.
3. Continued Western trade and investment with China.
The fact you can speak in person means you both already committed to not over-throwing Xi Jinping or the CCP.
When this is over there will be so much wealth generated it will make the ten year global peace of the 1990s, which saw at least a trebling of real global GDP look lame.
You're both gonna have to trust me. Well, if you want that bakers dozen of a bagger. It's that big.
1. First we solve the Russian problem 2. Then the Mid East problem 3. Then rebuild trans-pacific relations 4. To build a world of peace and prosperity beyond your wildest dreams.

Clandestine Spies: Unveiling the Shadows of "Illegals"
Most intelligence officers work out of an embassy and under diplomatic cover. This has the benefit of diplomatic immunity. The downside is, it is VERY difficult to do anything secret when literally employed by a government and literally working in an embassy. Thus, in U.S. practice most case officers work with locals -- the case officer is a "handler" the local is an "agent".
There are also spies who do not work with diplomatic cover. In the U.S. parlance such are called NOCs -- no official cover. In Russian parlance they are called "Illegals" as opposed to Rezident. The Rezidentura is the polite way to say "nest of Russian spies but at least we know they really are Russian and really are spies". In peace time these things are much nicer.
No Official Cover (NOC) spies, commonly referred to as "illegals." These covert agents work without any formal affiliation or recognition from their home governments, blending into the shadows to gather intelligence, conduct sabotage, or execute high-stakes missions. This essay delves into the operational tactics, tradecraft, recruitment procedures, and psychological profiles of NOC spies, examining the heightened risks they face and the reasons nations deploy them despite the substantial threats involved.
Operational Tactics and Tradecraft
NOC spies operate outside the protective umbrella of diplomatic immunity, relying on their skills, cunning, and adaptability to survive. They often assume false identities, creating elaborate legends to conceal their true nationality and purpose. This requires mastery of languages, cultural nuances, and local customs to avoid detection. NOC agents may work as freelancers, entrepreneurs, or even criminals, using their cover to gather information, recruit assets, or execute operations.
Tradecraft is crucial for NOC spies, who must employ advanced techniques to communicate, evade surveillance, and maintain secrecy. They use secure communication channels, such as encrypted messages, dead drops, and clandestine meetings, to stay in touch with their handlers and receive instructions. NOC agents must also be proficient in surveillance detection, able to identify and shake off tails, and skilled in self-defense and hand-to-hand combat.
Recruitment Procedures
The recruitment of NOC spies is a highly selective and secretive process. Candidates are often identified through their skills, experience, and personal connections. They may be approached by a handler or recruiter, who assesses their motivation, loyalty, and ability to maintain secrecy. NOC agents may be drawn from various backgrounds, including military, law enforcement, or intelligence services, as well as from the criminal underworld.
Psychological Profiles
NOC spies possess unique psychological profiles, characterized by exceptional courage, adaptability, and cunning. They must be able to operate in high-stress environments, making quick decisions with limited information. NOC agents often exhibit a strong sense of independence, self-reliance, and resourcefulness, as they work without the safety net of official support.
Historic Examples and Real-Life Cases
One notable example of a NOC spy is Aldrich Ames, a CIA officer who worked as an illegal in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Ames, who was eventually caught and convicted of espionage, used his position to provide critical intelligence to the Soviet Union, compromising numerous CIA operations.
Another example is the case of Anna Chapman, a Russian NOC spy who was arrested in the United States in 2010. Chapman, who worked under the cover of a real estate agent, was part of a network of Russian illegals tasked with gathering intelligence on American politics and business.
Eli Cohen is one of the more famous illegals. Briefly, he got in deep in his opponents camp, got a lot of usfeul intel out, was eventually caught, and hanged.
What I am saying is this isn't a game that ends well.
Heightened Risk Levels
NOC spies face significantly higher risk levels compared to those working under official cover. Without diplomatic immunity, they are vulnerable to arrest, imprisonment an execution if caught. NOC agents must also contend with the psychological strain of living a false identity, often for extended periods, which can lead to mental health issues and burnout.
Reasons for Deployment
Despite the substantial threats involved, nations deploy NOC spies for several reasons. Firstly, NOC agents can operate in areas where official cover is not possible or would be too risky. They can gather intelligence, conduct sabotage, or execute operations in hostile environments, providing a strategic advantage to their governments.
Secondly, NOC spies can provide a level of deniability for their governments, allowing them to distance themselves from controversial or illegal activities. This plausible deniability can be crucial in maintaining diplomatic relations or avoiding international repercussions.
Finally, NOC agents can be used to execute high-risk, high-reward operations that might be too sensitive or politically explosive for official channels. In these cases, the deployment of NOC spies can provide a means to achieve strategic objectives while minimizing the risk of exposure or backlash.
Conclusion
NOC spies operate without the safety net of official recognition or protection. Despite the heightened risks involved, nations continue to deploy NOC agents due to their unique ability to gather intelligence, conduct operations, and provide strategic advantages in high-stakes environments. Through their exceptional skills, cunning, and adaptability, NOC spies remain a crucial component of modern espionage, operating in the darkest corners of the intelligence world.
MEMORY AND WHY IT MATTERS
Suppose you want to observe a target, but don't want to get caught. Might be a good idea to be able to instantly and accurately remember things like license plate numbers, what the target was wearing, and to do that without breaking out your pen paper telephone or computer since you don't actually want to get caught "bird watching".
Let's look at Playing Cards as a memory tool, and then I will go into the details about why you might want a memory sharp as a steel trap.
EXAMPLE OF USING PLAYING CARDS AS A MEMORY TOOL
Here's ONE example how you can use cards as a memory tool. There are others!
Suppose you wanted to pass yourself off as a Christian. Or, instead, you are a sincere Christian who wants to remember the bible.
“When I see the Ace, ” said he, “it reminds me that there is but one God. When I see the Deuce, it reminds me of the Father and Son. When I see the Trey, it reminds me of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. When I see the Four, it reminds me of the four Evangelists that preached the Gospel, viz: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. When I see the Five, it reminds me of the five wise Virgins; there were ten, but five were foolish, who were shut out. When I see the Six, it reminds me that in six days God made Heaven and Earth. When I see the Seven, it reminds me that on the Seventh Day God rested from all the works which he had created and made. Wherefore the Lord blessed the Seventh and hallowed it. When I see the Eight, it reminds me of the eight righteous persons that were saved when God drowned the world: Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their three wives. When I see the Nine, it reminds me of the nine Lepers that were cleansed by our Savior; there were ten, but nine never returned God thanks. When I see the Ten, it reminds me of the Ten Commandments that God gave Moses on Mount Sinai, on two tables of stone.”
“When I see the Queen, it reminds me of the Queen of Sheba, who came from the furthermost parts of the world, to hear the wisdom of King Solomon, for she was as wise a woman as he was a man. She brought fifty boys and fifty girls, all clothed in boys' apparel, to show before King Solomon, for him to tell which were boys and which were girls. King Solomon called for water for them to wash themselves, and the girls washed up to their elbows, and the boys only up to their wrists, so King Solomon told by that which were boys and which were girls. When I see the King, it reminds me of the great King of Heaven and Earth, which is God Almighty.”
“When I count how many cards there are in a pack, I find there are fifty-two; there are so many weeks in a year. When I count how many tricks there are in a pack of cards, I find there are twelve, and there are so many months in a year. You see, sir, that this pack of cards is a Bible, Almanac, Prayer Book, and pack of Cards to me.”
MEMORY: PREVENT ALZHEIMERS.
Tips for Using Playing Cards as a Memory Tool:
1. Choose a specific card to associate with a piece of information, event, or idea.
2. Create a vivid mental image that links the card to the information. For example, if you're trying to remember a birthday, imagine the person blowing out candles on a cake with the associated card on top.
3. Store the image in your mental "memory palace," a visualized space where you can retrieve the information later.
4. When you need to recall the information, visualize the card and the associated image, and the information should come to mind.
* Create associations between cards and information you want to remember
* Use visualization techniques to help you recall information
* Practice regularly to reinforce your memory
* Experiment with different ways of using the cards to represent information
By leveraging the associations between the suits, pips, and faces of the cards, we can create a powerful system for remembering information and events. With practice and repetition, this method can help improve memory, cognitive function, and overall mental performance.

Associating Cards with Faces and Ideas
Within each suit, we can associate the face cards with specific ideas or concepts related to the suit's theme:
* Hearts: Emotions, relationships, or love

PIPS
not including aces, how many pips are there on the cards
Let's count the pips on the cards, excluding Aces:
2s: 2 pips each, 4 suits = 2 x 4 = 8 pips
3s: 3 pips each, 4 suits = 3 x 4 = 12 pips
4s: 4 pips each, 4 suits = 4 x 4 = 16 pips
5s: 5 pips each, 4 suits = 5 x 4 = 20 pips
6s: 6 pips each, 4 suits = 6 x 4 = 24 pips
7s: 7 pips each, 4 suits = 7 x 4 = 28 pips
8s: 8 pips each, 4 suits = 8 x 4 = 32 pips
9s: 9 pips each, 4 suits = 9 x 4 = 36 pips
10s: 10 pips each, 4 suits = 10 x 4 = 40 pips
Adding up the pips, we get:
8 + 12 + 16 + 20 + 24 + 28 + 32 + 36 + 40 = 216 pips
There are 216 pips on the cards, excluding Aces, 220 including aces.
These associations can be used as a starting point for creating your own personal connections and meanings with the cards. Remember, the most important thing is to find associations that resonate with you and your personal experiences!
I personally however found playing cards fairly useless for learning Chinese. Just learn the Kangxi Radicals, then the other pictograms and ideograms that should cover all the atomic characters 独体字 and only then move on to the pictophonetic compound charactres. I could probably invent a system of associations between playing cards and Chinese characters but I don't think it would help you learn Chinese or help breaking anyone's ciphers.
